Meerkats are used to living in harsh deserts. They live in
the savannah, South Africa, where it does not rain too much.
They burrow and dig
themselves in the ground and often share their burrows with animals such as
squirrels and yellow mongoose. They choose to live also in places where the
ground is hard so their tunnels (burrows) don’t collapse. Meerkats will defend
their home from other meerkats gangs as they are quite territorial.
