Meerkats are small animals and are then prey to lots of other
animals. The biggest threat that meerkats have are birds, hawks and eagles as
they fly above them. On the ground snakes are also big threats to meerkats. Humans
do not harm meerkats and therefore not a threat to them. In order for meerkats
to protect themselves they will keep on guard and always be alert looking
around as you would probably see meerkats always looking around! Meerkats are very sociable to animals and stay in a group to about 10-30. In the morning when meerkats come out of their burrows the gang will go hunt for food while others will babysit or just stay on guard for their home. When the meerkats are on guard and see predators they will have different sounds to tell the rest of the group what type of danger there is and tell them to hide.
